5 Tips on How To Uplift Your Mood

Are You Feeling down? There are many way to up lift your mood, especailly when you are feeling down. Here are just a few ideas that you might not of thought of, that can actually have a surprising benefit for your day.

1. Make A List

Uplift Your Mood

This can be done in a couple of different ways.

1.Make a list of positive things about yourself and your life. If you feel like you are struggling with this ask for some help as sometimes it's hard to see the positive. Things you could include are: You have a great smile, you're a kind and helpful person, you have great friends, a roof over your head, food to eat. They can be as simple or elaborate as you like. Then carry this list with you everywhere, read it every morning/night and when you're feeling down.

2. Write a list of everything that bothers you, annoys you and things that you can't control or events that make you want to cry or scream.

The list can be as long as you feel necessary, or it may just be one thing in the moment.

Once you write this list, take it and tear it up.

This is a great way to get those bothersome thoughts and feelings out of your mind. It is a metaphorical cleansing.

2. Listen to Music

Listen To Music to Help Uplift Your Mood.

Listening to upbeat music can be intoxicatingly boosting to your mood.

Dancing around helps to increase serotonin and dopamine (happy hormones) It can also increase endorphins which are hormones that help to eliminate feelings of tiredness and pain, allowing your body to focus on the joy of the dance.

So.....Put on your favourite tunes and dance like no one is watching (and who cares if they are).

3. Get Some Sun

how to uplift your mood with sunlight

Do you know why getting out into the Sun gives you that warm fuzzy feeling? Apart from it feeling like the sun gives you a big old hug the sun shines down its pure Vitamin D in its rays. It's this Vitamin D has been shown to help lift your mood.

Have you heard of seasonal affective disorder (SAD)? This is where you start to feel flat and depressed and is due to a lack of Vitamin D. Getting out into the sun for a minimum of 10 minutes a day may be enough to help uplift your mood. How amazing is mother nature!

4. Exercise

Exercise To uplify your mood

Exercise is one of the best ways to uplift your mood. It gets all your endorphins pumping including adrenaline which makes you feel on top of the world. Exercise helps to increase your metabolism and may help with other areas of your life like sleep, sex, memory, and motivation.

But did you know that Exercise can also help with your mental health? Yes, this is TRUE! Studies have shown that exercise is as effective as antidepressant medication for sufferers of mild to moderate depression.

So, what are you waiting for? Go for a walk do some yoga in the park or smash out a sesh at the gym. You won’t regret it!!!

5. De-Clutter

Declutter to lift your mood

Once you start clearing out objects, old clothes, shoes, hats, handbags, 'things', you no longer need or want, you start to feel like your mind becomes lighter, clearer, and less cluttered.

It's amazing how when you start cleaning out physical junk from your life your mental/emotional 'junk' disappears, and your mind feels cleaner as well.

Start with small jobs like clearing out your sock draw or a junk draw. Work up to bigger jobs slowly.

It doesn’t take much time to achieve these tips, all of these things listed can almost be done all at the same time.

On your first day of adopting these tips, write your lists. Start with the things that are constantly on your mind, write them down tear them up and throw them out; Now they're out of your mind.

Next write the list of all the positive things in your life, all the things that make you feel good. Keep this list and carry it with you and read it every day.

The next day you may wake up feeling lighter, refreshed and more positive about life. This is where you tackle those little de-cluttering jobs, the desk or kitchen draw or even the sock draw. You will find that you feel lighter again.

Now for the last 3 tips...

Grab your favourite tunes and go for a walk out in the sun.
